I’ve been busy lately. Learned a really good milk bread recipe:

Delicious delicious breb

Been taking Alice to the vet — all is well now, she had some skin issues but they are clearing up and I don’t have to put her in a car again for another year, hooray!

Sleeby

Found some I think buffle head duck feathers on a walk and loved how colorful they were

Vibrant!

Finished my weaving and currently using it as a shawl because it ended up being the perfect length and width for it

It is remarkably drapey and I love it

I got my first two conservation breed wools! Jacob-American and Karakul-American. The Jacob I have been learning about consistently spinning supported backwards long draw, and it has been a delight so far.

Fluffy fluffy Jacob

Have been applying to all sorts of things, lately, too–I was accepted for a scholarship to the NISO Plus conference in mid February! I’m super excited to go learn All The Things about metadata and AI and open access to research and information. Gonna be a little public library country mouse in the big city, which is a bit scary since I’ll be by myself, but I’ll channel some Despereaux and do my best.

It’s almost time to start my dye garden! The greenhouse is not finished still, due to some family health things going on the last couple months, but I’ve been taking stock of my seeds and making plans for where to put things. I’ll have to get to it in earnest next month if I’m going to have all the beds I want!

About Me

I am an avid learner of things, maker of clothes (mostly), herder of cats, and hugger of sheep. I’m just trying to eke out a humble little existence in this delightfully weird wide world. Feel free to come along for the ride.
