The Fiberary

A personal blog about clothes, fiber arts, librarianship, books, and occasional bad poetry.

Finally, a day to pause

I’ve been a busy little bee these past two weeks. First I worked several days in a row, then I took some time to celebrate Lunar New Year (新年快乐 , belated!), then I flew up to Baltimore for a conference (which was amazing), and then yesterday I drove to Knoxville to take a basket weaving class.

The basket is Ella Approved.

While I was in Baltimore, I also went to the Reginald Lewis Museum on African American history because they had a wonderful fiber arts exhibit titled Black Woman Genius. The museum itself was great too, but I didn’t get any pics there.

What a quilt!
Zoom in to read the beads on this one if it isn’t too blurry.
Indigo, tobacco, and cotton.
Collaborative community art project
The indigo batik with the cowrie shells really took my breath away.
Facts

Newly acquired expensive hobby aside, I am now plumb tuckered out. Today is gonna be a finish unpacking day, and then a make bread day, and then sit and read and generally be in a vegetative state for the remainder of the day. Alice has already gotten the memo and is preventing me from getting out of my chair.

About Me

I am an avid learner of things, maker of clothes (mostly), herder of cats, and hugger of sheep. I’m just trying to eke out a humble little existence in this delightfully weird wide world. Feel free to come along for the ride.
