Found the audio files from a live recording of several dear dancer friends from a while back recently. It’s nostalgic and good and makes me miss Lindy and all the folks I’ve met that no longer live in the same place they did ten years ago. I was funnily enough able to see some of them in Boston a couple years ago, though I don’t know if I’ll ever get the chance to see them again. I think many of us don’t really dance anymore, or like me, dance on occasion.
I’ve also been getting more into the technical aspects of sound–I bought some Sony WH1000MX5s about a year ago after my Beats unceremoniously broke in half when I was taking them off. It was definitely an upgrade, though now I’m learning more about IEMs and DAPs and DAC/AMPs and EQs &c. &c. &c. From what I’ve seen on ye olde reddit this is just another expensive hobby I could really rabbit trail into.
I took a vacation a couple weeks ago and finally washed one of my fleeces in its entirety, so I’ve been combing it in my free time. The laundry bin has been commandeered for the uncombed fleece. There is dirt and vegetable matter everywhere. But! I’m making progress, and it’s time for Tour de Fleece, so perhaps I will include fiber prep as one of my goals–15 minutes a day of combing, and 15 minutes a day of spinning through July 27.
I’ve slipped a little as far as internet use–I switched back to my smart phone for more reliable GPS and pictures, with a minimalist app, but I’m still having trouble with internet access. My brain just really craves that dopamine.
All in all, trying to keep my head above water as I check the news– IMLS is officially gone in October, and there’s a chance it might not affect me directly, but there are lots of folks around me that will no longer have any funds for their collections, their technology, their staff. Sometimes it sucks to care so much, but I refuse not to.
