Music and sheep fleece
Found the audio files from a live recording of several dear dancer friends from a while back recently. It’s nostalgic and good and makes me miss Lindy and all the folks I’ve met that no longer live in the same place they did ten years ago. I was funnily enough able to see some of Continue reading

Recommitting to talking into the void.
It’s been a lot of escapism into cdrama land these past few months. I’ve been dealing with some work-life balance issues and while none of it has exactly resolved, I did finally take a vacation (just in time for my weaving guild’s summer retreat). This week is halfway over and it’s been really refreshing to Continue reading

Going more and more analog
Recently I bought an mp3 player and started buying CDs and so on. I listen to a lot of podcasts and music during my work, but my ability to focus has been really rough if the task isn’t the most interesting, and of course my inclination with my phone is to unlock it to skip Continue reading

Wintering
This time of year is always difficult–it’s trauma season, it’s cold, and time in the sun is hard to find. I’ve been slowing down a lot and trying to accept that my body needs more rest and quiet than usual. I’ve been crafting still, these past few months, though. Pics below. I also got to Continue reading

Flax is harvested!
Exactly 31 days after the first bloom ☺️. The flowers were so pretty in the morning sunlight and I can’t wait to plant more next year. Not sure my neighbors would approve of the whole yard eventually being just flax, but gosh would I love it. Also started my own first indigo vat! I used Continue reading

It’s garden season
I’ve been working on veggies in the back and dyes in the front. We have to big raised beds in the back so far, with tomatoes, jalapenos, squash, zucchini, and radishes. I imagine I’ll only get one harvest of radishes before it’s too hot for them, and maybe then I can do more in the Continue reading

Flax time
I’ve dedicated a whole 16 square foot plot for just flax and planted it last Friday. It looks like just maybe several seeds are starting to germinate, so here’s hoping I have a good crop to harvest this year! I’ve not really been finishing any projects these past months, though I have picked up Chinese Continue reading

Finally, a day to pause
I’ve been a busy little bee these past two weeks. First I worked several days in a row, then I took some time to celebrate Lunar New Year (新年快乐 , belated!), then I flew up to Baltimore for a conference (which was amazing), and then yesterday I drove to Knoxville to take a basket weaving Continue reading

Recent activities
I’ve been busy lately. Learned a really good milk bread recipe: Been taking Alice to the vet — all is well now, she had some skin issues but they are clearing up and I don’t have to put her in a car again for another year, hooray! Found some I think buffle head duck feathers Continue reading

Learning more about weaving lately
And there are so many lessons! Like the fact I can’t count, or do basic math, and that I need to take more frequent breaks than I usually give myself when I’m hyperfocused. And also to go slow. The weaving part is always faster, but warping is truly pedagogical in its detailed repetitiveness. There are Continue reading
About Me
I am an avid learner of things, maker of clothes (mostly), herder of cats, and hugger of sheep. I’m just trying to eke out a humble little existence in this delightfully weird wide world. Feel free to come along for the ride.
