New year, same me
This year I have goals-my self imposed spring semester starts later this month, but for the year, I have two big ones: In the meantime I am going to make All The Things I can. Pics of some recent activities ahead: Continue reading

Seasonal depression came early
But I’m still crawling along. Progress has been made on the greenhouse, there is a hole in our deck, and the time change is absolutely wrecking my ability to do anything after dark. I’ve been chipping away at spinning flax into linen and I think I might, maybe, be starting to understand it a little Continue reading

It’s been like a month, oops
In that time I have (mostly) finished two dresses (need sleeve buttons and buttonholes on one of them), one sock (minus weaving in the ends), got started on holiday gifts, and did a lot of dancing. I’ve also picked up drawing again which I haven’t done since literally high school. Mostly I’ve been doodling cats. Continue reading

Today I failed to catch a cat
There is a second kitten living by the dumpster at my library, and as the resident cat catcher I set up the trap this morning. The last time it took barely two hours, but this one is either clever or went somewhere else last night, since it didn’t show up all day. I changed out Continue reading

Finished yarn and other dalliances
I finished my yarn and emptied my bobbins! I even started spinning my flax and knitting socks. And then I got distracted. I’ve been reading much more lately, and also the dress I wanted to put off making until spring kept calling me like a siren, so I’ve been doing those things for a few Continue reading

I finished spinning the Southdown!
Finally! It only took since April! And now I’ve started plying. One skein so far, and you can barely tell I made a dent in the singles bobbins. The plan once I’m done plying is to set the twist, mordant, and then dye the skeins with marigolds. Than I’mma knit socks (and hopefully be done Continue reading

Ecoprinting with friends
This past weekend I had some friends over to do eco printing! I’m doing a program at my library in September and had only done it the once, so this was also the first test run for me. To set up, I had one pot (my biggest one) for steaming, one pot with water and Continue reading

Returning from traveling is hard
It always takes me a couple weeks to return to my routine, so I’m constantly forgetting to do things and easily distracted. My first month away from social media was a few days ago and I didn’t even realize it until after it happened. In the meantime, though, I’ve been reading a lot. I picked Continue reading

I spent a week at the John C. Campbell Folk School
I took a class on cultivating and using natural dyes this week and wow! I don’t have words for what an experience this was. I got to meet some lovely, creative, kind, talented people, learn from an extremely knowledgeable teacher, and I returned home with newfound confidence and skills. The campus is absolutely divine. It Continue reading
About Me
I am an avid learner of things, maker of clothes (mostly), herder of cats, and hugger of sheep. I’m just trying to eke out a humble little existence in this delightfully weird wide world. Feel free to come along for the ride.
